Pick N' Save and Metro Market won't be giving out coins as change anymore, a press release from parent company Roundy's said.

Roundy's is encouraging all those who shop at Pick N' Save and Metro Market to use credit/debit if they checkout with a cashier. If you do use cash to pay, you will be asked to either round up your total to support the company's Zero Hunger/Zero Waste initiative. If you chose otherwise, your change will be loaded to your loyalty card.

However, if you use self-checkout and pay with cash, you will still get coins as a form of change.

The decision was made as the national coin shortage continues.
