Here is a heads up for those who hired contractors for outdoor projects that are not yet done. Now might be a good time to take action to get these jobs completed.
This is the time of year when we hear from a lot of consumers who hired a contractor for an outdoor project that is not done. Sometimes, there are legitimate reasons like delays in getting supplies or a temporary shortage of workers. But, this is also the time of year when some contractors pack up and leave town, go out of business, or just get tired of working on projects that probably should have been completed a while ago.
Most of the complaints seem to relate to concrete or blacktop driveways, patios, or outdoor landscaping. And, it is really important to get these projects done now because if the weather gets too cold, the products used for the job will not work in lower temperatures.
Hopefully, the contractor is still in business. If they are, contact our Call 4 Action office for help and we will do what we can to try to mediate a resolution. But, if they will not do what is needed to complete the project, you may need to take immediate legal action, especially if it appears that they have or may be going out of business. Depending on the project, you might also want to hire another contractor to finish the project now so that it does not lead to other, costly problems later.
