Ten miles away from the sight of this year’s U.S.Open, the La Belle Golf Club holds a world of history of the country’s top golf tournament.

The owner of La Belle Golf Club John Meunier and historian Mike Kopacz unearthed U.S. Open history in the ghosts of Willie Anderson and Alex Smith.

Between them, six U.S. Open championships.

“Alex was the pro here two years prior to Willie,” Meunier said.  “Went on to become a legendary golfer in his own right.  Won two U.S. Opens so we've dubbed them the La Belle legends.  From 1901 to 1910, they won six U.S. Opens.”

The two sat down with TODAY’S TMJ4’s Lance Allan to talk about what they found.
