His work on social media and beyond raised $37 million for Houston after Hurricane Harvey. J.J. Watt will be honored on a worldwide stage for his effort.

The former Pewaukee High School and Wisconsin Badgers star, now with the Houston Texans, will throw out the first pitch at Friday night's World Series Game 3 when the Houston Astros host the Los Angeles Dodgers, according to the Houston Chronicle.

An effort he started after Hurricane Harvey began was intended to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars. In the end, it reached $37 million through his foundation, leading to countless efforts to help the victims of the hurricane.

He helped distribute some of the supplies donated as well, many from Wisconsin.

Watt is recovering from a broken bone in his leg that has cost him his 2017 NFL season.
