SAUKVILLE -- Mechanics have come together at the Rebel converting plant in Saukville, volunteering their time and talents to help kids they've never met.

They're fixing up used two-wheelers in all sizes and colors. The bikes will be given away to kids in need.

Mike Kryshak sponsored the "Bike Repair Bash." People attended from all over the Milwaukee are.

"This year we're hoping to give away between 750 and 1,000 bikes at Walker's Square on June 12," he says.

It takes a lot of elbow grease to get the bikes up to speed.

"Our primary concern is that these kids are safe riding their bikes, so we're going over to make sure the breaks work, the tires hold air."

David Water is a pediatrician at the 16th St. Community Health Center. He founded the program after seeing obesity rates in kids climb.

Thanks to several companies and organizations, hundreds of Milwaukee kids will soon discover the thrill of owning their own bicycle.

Rebel Wipes is a company formed solely for the purpose of helping others - all of their profits go right back into the community.
