MILWAUKEE -- An impartial research group has been warning county leaders of the need to address crumbling county-owned buildings for years.

Another wake up call was received last week, when falling concrete closed the Mitchell Park Domes.

In a 2013 report, the non-profit Public Policy Forum detailed more county-owned cultural buildings that have millions of dollars in needed repairs.

Those buildings include the Milwaukee Public Museum.

"There's been identified roughly $30 million worth of building-related improvements that need to take place in the not so distant future,"  Public Policy Forum President Rob Henken said.

Henken adds the county is working on a dollar amount to fix and maintain the public safety building.

The report did not include the latest needs of the domes.

County Executive Chris Abele says it could cost up to $75 million to rebuild the domes altogether.
