New Brookfield shopping destination 'Corners of Brookfield' to open on Saturday

Retailers like Von Maur, Kendra Scott included

A new luxury shopping center coming to Brookfield officially opens on Saturday. The Corners of Brookfield includes many stores new to Wisconsin, like Von Maur and Kendra Scott.

Eight retailers are expected to open on Saturday and more in the next several months, at a time when more than 3,500 retail stores plan to close their doors this year.

"There's a lot to offer here," said David Olson, the general manager at The Corners of Brookfield.

He says he believes the combination of unique retail stores, restaurants and entertainment will help them not only survive a changing retail landscape, but find success as well.

"It's a lifestyle center," he said. "We've got 244 luxury apartments, the ability to shop, to dine, to live. We've got a number of restaurants and more coming."

The new Kendra Scott store will be the company's 58th location. Even though it's the first store in Wisconsin, Kendra Scott already has a connection here, since the store's founder grew up in Kenosha.

"This is Kendra's home state, so we're very excited to bring this brand awareness to the state," said Erica Vachalek, store manager. "She's very excited as well, she told us to take care of her people."

The Corners' anchor stores include a new Sendik's location set to open on April 23 and Von Maur, an upscale department store.

Von Maur is a family-owned chain of department stores located in 14 states. The location in Brookfield will be the 32nd store, and Wisconsin's first.

"The reason that we are able to continue to open new stores is because we focus on what's important and sometimes lost in shopping these days is our customer service," said Katie Young, store manager at Von Maur.

She says that service includes personal shoppers and complimentary shipping, gift wrap, and alterations.

She also said they strive to create an elegant atmosphere that includes a piano player in the store.

Other stores opening on April 8 include the Anthony Vince nail spa, Evereve, Francesca's, Scout & Molly's and Twigs.

J.Jill opens at the shopping center on April 6.

Visitors on Saturday can also tour the luxury apartments available for rent starting this summer.

BelAir Cantina will open at The Corners on April 17. Other retailers and restaurants coming to the area include L.L. Bean, Grimaldi's Pizzeria, Free People, Anthropologie, Cafe Hollander, Lululemon Athletica, Paper Source and Wisconsin Vision.

The first 1,000 adults on April 8 will receive a "swag bag" with coupons and other items from retailers.
