MILWAUKEE - A deadly Saturday morning crash marks the first motorcycle-related fatality in the City of Milwaukee this year.
It happened shortly after 10 a.m. at W. Appleton Avenue and W. Silver Spring Drive.
Police say a 33-year-old man was traveling at a high rate of speed on his motorcycle when he was struck by a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Lifesaving measures were performed on the motorcyclist but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The adult male driver of the Jeep was uninjured and remained on scene.
Lewis Byers, president of Personal Touch Ryders MC, described it as a motorcyclist’s worst nightmare.
“[The] first couple of days of nice weather, you know, you got motorcycles out here and you also got drivers out here,” Byers said. “Everybody [wants to] have a good time or everybody is in a rush and not used to the motorcycles out here.”

Byers said he did not witness the accident, but he was present for its aftermath. He watched from the sidewalk as police investigated.
“It don’t matter who you are, what color you are. If you on those two wheels, you know, we gon’ come see what's going on and take care of our fallen riders,” Byers said.
Willie Williams said he watched the accident unfold and could not believe his eyes.
“I’d never seen somebody die, but I just said I was praying that he was gon' be alright,” Williams said. “It just happened. He hit it with such hard an impact at the speed he was going. I’m sorry for the loss of the family and everything.”
The victim’s name has not been released.
