Milwaukee has declared 2017 the "Year of Wisconsin Avenue" as the city looks to upgrade the main street downtown.

Milwaukee will unveil several new projects on Wisconsin Avenue this summer, including Sculpture Milwaukee, a West Wisconsin Avenue audio walking tour, and a new lighting installation.

The city is also working on a rerouted Milwaukee Trolley Loop, the Milwaukee Streetcar, and the proposed Bus Rapid Transit to connect Wisconsin Avenue to surrounding neighborhoods.

Since 2014, 16 flagship properties along Wisconsin Avenue have announced plans for new construction, reinvestment, or re-purposing.

More than $194 million has been invested downtown, with over $783 million coming in proposed projects.
