MILWAUKEE -- A man has died in custody at the Milwaukee Secure Detention Facility, the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner said Tuesday.
The victim has been identified as inmate Jesse Davis. No further information was available for immediate release, the medical examiner said.
"Per DOC policy, an internal investigation has begun and DOC has contacted the Milwaukee Police Department. DOC is not confirming the cause of death," a spokesperson for the state Department of Corrections tells TODAY'S TMJ4.
The Milwaukee Secure Detention Facility is a state-run, medium-security correctional facility located in downtown Milwaukee on N. 10th St., near the county courthouse. It houses "offenders on DCC probation and parole holds."
An autopsy will be performed on the man Wednesday, the medical examiner's office said.
