Layers are the key to staying warm during cold

So the bitter cold is here and it’s a struggle for all of us to stay warm – but the advice our Moms always gave to bundle up has a basis in science.  You just have to do it the right way.

While a big parka is better than nothing – the best solution is to dress in layers. Here’s why.

When you put on a shirt, a sweater, a liner, and ultimately a coat – you’re creating air pockets to trap your body heat. It’s kind of like the insulation around your house.

And if you get overheated – it’s easy to shed one layer without losing all your protection. So Mom got it right – bundle up in layers.
