It's hard to explain what's going on in Fond du Lac. Ice shoves, some reaching 16 feet tall, line the southern end of Lake Winnebago.

"The pieces look like onions," said Kasey Schaefer.

"It looks kind of like a honeycomb if you pick a piece," said Hannah Schaefer.

"It's really neat.  I've never seen anything like this before," said Nicole Lang.

The ice has brought people to Lakeside Park from all over the state.

"It's like a parade out here with all the cars going by, so we thought we'd have to come check it out," said Barry Lang.

Most visitors ignore the caution tape to climb on the ice and take pictures.

"It's just really neat what Mother Nature can do," said Kelly Schaefer.

The ice shoves are a sight to see, but it can be dangerous.  Across the marina at Fond du Lac Yacht Club people are looking at the ice with a different perspective.

"Everybody thinks ooo that's nice and pretty, and all I saw was a building falling over and something that we would be be able to replace," said the Director of Fond du Lac Yacht Club Randy Veeser.

It took 10 minutes for the ice to move from the shoreline to the top of the building Friday night.

"It's happened before, but usually it just kind of comes up to the edge of the sidewalk and that's it.  Nothing ever like this," said Veeser.

The club has been around since 1921.  Members grabbed historic items as they evacuated.  It took 2.5 hours to get rid of the ice.

"We've had a lot of traffic coming through because everybody is wanting to see this historic event."

The club is open, but members have their eyes on the weather since conditions are expected to be similar to Friday.
