United Hospital Systems at the Kenosha Medical Center has expanded its relationship with Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin, and under a new pending agreement the facility will be called Froedtert South.

Announced Thursday, the deal will also allow the two systems to share electronic health records and United would also take on Froedtert’s quality standards and programs.

In a news release United Hospital CEO Ric Schmidt said:

As the healthcare landscape continues its dramatic, unpredictable shift, it makes sense to align more closely with an academic medical center partner we already know and trust. This affiliation is designed to support our responsiveness to our patients and our presence in the community.

The Kenosha facility will continue to operate as a “locally led organization” and keep its board of directors according to a news release.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The deal still has to be approved by both system’s board of directors. If approved, the official agreement will take effect Oct. 1.
