Three kids were rescued from a burning SUV that crashed into a gas pump after a driver running away from police crashed into a family car.

The crash sent the family's SUV into some gas pumps, and they ignited. Surveillance video captured it all at the Citgo Gas Station near 31st Street and Lisbon Avenue.

"It's crazy," said customer Eddie Moore, Jr.

While the vehicle was ablaze someone got to the SUV's door to save two small children, and a third child was carried out later. The woman in the front seat was able to climb out on her own.

"It could have easily blown up," Moore said.

Milwaukee police said officers tried to pull over the 26-year-old driver of a Dodge Charger earlier, who took off after hitting the SUV.  Moore and store clerk were at the station after it happened could not believe it.

"That's dangerous," Moore said.

Jigjit Singh, who works at the Citgo, credits his co-worker for coming to the rescue.

"Just tried to put it out," said Singh.

Singh said his co-worker turned off the gas to all the pumps and pulled out the fire extinguisher to fight it.

"Saved the gas station, saved the people around," Singh said.

The worker got the fire out before it could spread. Police said no one sustained serious injuries. Police know who the driver of the Dodge Charger was but they are still trying to find him.
