The five suspects in the shooting death of city employee Greg Zyszkiewicz took police on two separate chases within hours of the shooting Wednesday.

"Probably within 90 minutes of our being at the scene at least one of these pursuits had already been initiated," said Milwaukee Police Chief Ed Flynn.

The first chase involving a Toyota Venza crashed at 27th Street and Hope Avenue.

"It hit a cement post.  It hit a gate it was a crash," said Pablo Guerrero.

People inside the car took off.

"I saw was a guy running down the street police chasing him," said Richard Dixon.

Officers caught a 16 and 17 year old near the intersection.

"That Venza had been used in an armed robbery carjacking earlier Wednesday where other occupants of that Toyota carjacked a Kia Soul," Flynn said.

The suspects in the second chase that ended near 18th and Nash Streets were in that Kia.

"I came out and seen a truck parked right here then I seen two guys running through here and then police got out and started chasing them through the yard.  They arrested one guy over there and then they arrested another guy down the street," said Ricky Carter.

Police arrested two teens and a 21-year-old there.

"We are also confident that we have the suspects in this series of crimes, particularly this homicide, in custody," Flynn said.

Mayor Tom Barrett commended police for their quick action in making these arrests.
