Amtrak train collides with car in Kenosha County

Witnesses say railroad crossing gates were down

An Amtrak train collided with a car in Kenosha County Saturday morning, leaving the driver severely injured.
 
It happened around 8:30 a.m. at a railroad crossing near the 8000 block of County Highway E in the Village of Somers.
 
Witnesses tell TODAY’S TMJ4 that the driver tried to go around the down railroad crossing gates, but was struck by the train.
Emergency officials say no passengers aboard the train appear to be injured.
 
The driver of the car was taken by flight for life to a nearby trauma center for treatment of his injuries.
 
No other information has been released at the time.
