A reckless driver behind the wheel of a vehicle stolen in Whitefish Bay injured a Glendale Police officer during a chase early Saturday morning.

Whitefish Bay police said two vehicles were reported stolen in the 6200 block of Bay Ridge Avenue very early Saturday.

The suspects "entered an unlocked residence and located keys to three vehicles in a purse," Whitefish Bay P.D. said in a news release, "ultimately taking two vehicles from that residence as well as a third vehicle from another location in the village."

That third vehicle was stolen several blocks away, according to the police chief.

One of those vehicles led officers on a chase and struck a Glendale officer who was attempting to set up a tire deflation device in the roadway near Port Washington Rd. and Silver Spring Dr. just before 3:00 a.m.

Glendale Police said the officer suffered non-life threatening injuries. The car was ultimately found abandoned in Milwaukee.

Dave Demos, of Whitefish Bay, found one of the stolen vehicles ditched in his front yard.

A neighborhood surveillance camera captured two of the three stolen cars speeding past a Whitefish Bay squad car outside of Demos's home.

The driver of a third vehicle fishtailed into his front yard and ran off on foot.

"It's very frustrating," Demos said.

"I hope they have the sense, after they may have seriously injured an officer, to just turn themselves in," Demos said of the people involved in the thefts.
