In Focus: Humans of Summerfest

It's not just the music, entertainment, or even the beer that draws hundreds of thousands of people to Summerfest. It's also the people. It's often said that you can't judge a book by its cover, and that's what popular photography blogs like Humans of New York sought to showcase several years ago. Humans of Milwaukee followed suit, so we decided to tag along with one of their photographers on a search for Humans of Summerfest. Get ready for your closeup, Milwaukee.

Summerfest draws people from all walks of life, not just from the Milwaukee area, but all over the state and country. Each comes with their own individual background and story.

Those unique stories are what drives Humans of Milwaukee photographer Miela Fetaw.

The concept is simple on the surface. Fetaw approaches an individual and asked to take their picture. She continues to talk to the person, and before you know it, is able to extract that interesting nugget of information that makes them unique and interesting.

Everyone has a story to tell, and now -- perhaps, more than ever -- it's important to talk to each other, and listen to what others have to say.
